Just a little reminder that we will be frosting cookies and delivering them at the Retirement Home for our next meeting! Happy Valentines to everyone! Also, remember you get a candybar if you or someone you know does an essay! All essays are due Feb. 12th, and will be judged by the secretary's at city hall.

Hey Youth Council Kids.... the essay contest is up and running! If you arranged to have a poster put in your school, please keep an eye on them until the contest is over. The theme is "Why I Love My City" and all entrys are due to the city hall by Feb.12th. There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.
This is a one-page essay, sponsored by West Point Youth Council. Put name and phone number on back of essay.
Tonights meeting is a treat. Gary Hill will speak to us about "how a bill is passed". After the meeting, we will be attending the Retirement Home.

January is here!!
Wow, the new year has started. Meeting attendance has been a great success! I look forward to seeing you all tonight. We will discuss some upcoming issues and events! We'll always be done by 6:00 on the first Wednesdays meeting, and 6:30 on the third Wednesdays meeting.
Our last meeting on December 16th went very well at the Retirement Home. The Elderly were especially happy to recieve fuzzy blankets and books for Christmas. Thanks to all who attended and took part in any way. They also very much enjoyed the music! Thanks kids for sharing your talents!

Christmas Party
Dec. 16th Mtg. is a pizza party, gift exchange, and assembling gift sets for the Retirement Home. Please bring musical instruments if you want to play as we carol. The gift exchange can include a inexpensive gift.... no more than $2.00. We will be done at 6:30, so have a ride ready! Thanks so much!
The cert volunteer program went well on Saturday morning, Dec. 12th. We had pretend broken bones, and other injuries. We will volunteer to help Fire Chief, again in the Spring!!

Last nights meeting
Hey kids, Thanks so much for all your help sanding blocks for the Festival of the Trees!! We finished assembling the "bag of blocks" today! They are so cute!! They will be sold-out fast!
Those youth council kids that haven't been able to join us... please come if you can. We miss you.
Also, last night's retirement home visit was a great success! Many songs played, and visiting with the Elderly!!! Thankyou, thankyou... you kids are awesome.
Upcoming events.... include our mtg on December 2nd will be a guest speaker....Gary Peterson. He is on the City Council and the Liason over Youth Council. You won't want to miss out!
December 7th is the Lighting Ceremony at City Hall. We need you to do the concession stand which basically intells handing out hot chocolate! Also, we will be taking pictures of kids with Santa!
December 12th is a mock trajedy where we get to dress us like wounded, natural disaster
victims for the Cert Program. This will be at 8:30-11:00 at the Job Corps @ the Freeport Center. Chris Tremea is director, and we will be volunteering under him.

Wednesday's Meeting!!!
You won't want to miss this exciting time of sanding blocks, and assembling Christmas bags for Festival of the Trees. This will be so fun.
